Not the first time: Altec Lansing Stage-Gig monitor further enforces faux rock fantasies
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
You know how badly the name has been devalued when the reviewer says that Altec is "the outfit famous for making those tinny speakers slammed into your laptop." The glory days of Altec are not even a faint memory in the minds of this generation.
By the way, the little "floor monitor" doesn't look too bad. If that's any consolation.

Most people of my generation (20 or 30 somethings) have no clue about the original Altec. I was talking to a guy at work who had an Altec sticker on his tool box. Of course it was for a Altec bluetooth speaker.
These guys have no interest in HiFi. Most have bluetooth speakers and some kind of ear buds or headphones. Their best stereo is their car stereo.
It makes me worry about what the brand will be in 30 years.
